Through the study of music, we learn not only practical skills that can be applied to various aspects of our lives, but we can also learn to recognize and cherish indescribable beauty. Whether I am teaching in a classroom or working with a private student, I strive to create an environment that is nurturing and welcoming. I want to uncover students’ curiosity, encourage them to take risks, and challenge them to love the process.

I believe that the world is a better place when more people are making music. While some of my students will pursue careers in music and the arts, I recognize that many will not; therefore, it is my goal to instill a life-long love of music and to help my students build the skills necessary to independently learn, analyze, and enjoy music of many kinds.

My students range from curious four year olds, to leisure adult students, to serious competition winners. Lessons with beginning and elementary students are filled with a variety of musical experiences, allowing for learning through discovery. I emphasize an intervallic reading approach, which leads students to recognize shapes and patterns, much like they learn to read words. My students have received state and regional honors for their high marks on Royal Conservatory of Music examinations, as well as excellent ratings and high honors in the New Jersey Music Teachers' Association Spring Festival and Recital Auditions.

Whether a student is working toward a competition or is learning for pleasure, I stress a well-balanced curriculum that includes a variety of repertoire, aural skills, theory, composition, and technique.
